Diecast Display Cases

Okay you have your collection and now you want to come up with a way to properly display them, there are some things you should consider before beginning your diecast display cases comparisons.

First, know that some people use their diecast display cases or their NASCAR display cases to protect their collection like their NASCAR and not necessarily to showcase their collection. It’s pretty easy for items to get banged up when not properly protected. So a display case is the perfect remedy. It can protect the collection and allow you, and others, to see what you have.

Now there are a few variables in the display cases too. Some are designed as table top displays and are not designed to be hung on a wall. Others are just the opposite. And if you look hard enough then you can might be able to find one that is both a hanging display case or a table top model.

The next thing is to be sure that the diecast display cases you are considering will meet the size requirements for you collection. We are not only talking about the number of the units the case is able to display but also the actual size of the compartments too. Some cases use individual compartments for each item. If the case you are considering is that type be sure to double check the inside measurements of the compartment.

There are also choices in the materials used. Some display cases are totally made from plastic or acrylic. These are generally the cheapest to buy and are quite popular for people using them primarily as protection instead of showcasing.

From there you can step up to wood cases with either plastic or glass fronts. Wooden cases are almost always a lot more money than plastic but the great looks of a wooden case may be well worth the extra money. On top of the line wooden diecast display cases, the front is made of glass and not plastic too. Small touches make a big difference. Some of the higher end units will have a mirrored back. If you have never seen a case with a mirrored back, then you might be surprised just how much more effective these cases are in really showing off the collection. The reflections make the cases appear much larger and they seem to capture light better too. So to really show off, you should consider a case with a mirrored back.

Of course if you have a large collection then the cost of wood display cases may be too much. For the most part, hanging display cases will not be as large as the table top types of cases. And hanging displays are only ‘one deep’ where a table top may be 3 or 4 rows wide. The appearance of a table top display can be improved with the use of a mirrored bottom too. Just a mirrored back works in a hanging display, a mirrored bottom will work in a table top model. Some people actually buy their cases without mirrors and then have the mirrors cut at stores like Home Depot or Lowes. They don’t charge any extra for cutting the tiles (at least in my area) and adding mirrors to diecast display cases can really enhance the looks of the display as well as the items being displayed.
